Winkelmann & Associates, Inc. a civil engineering and land surveying consulting firm in Dallas, is seeking a qualified candidate to perform civil engineering design and conceptual site planning. This ideal candidate would be looking for growth in project management and leadership. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Preparing design drawings and submittals for storm water systems, sanitary sewer systems, roadway design, water layouts, utility layouts, grading layouts, dirt quantities;
  • Preparing site plan layouts for new developments;
  • Collaborating with team members on project development;
  • Attending project meetings and managing project progress;
  • Periodic site visits to observe construction;
  • Preparation of opinions of probable construction costs;
  • Working with the firm’s CFM in floodplain analysis and drainage/storm water engineering;
  • Preparing project close-out documents;
  • Representing company and clients at city meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field of engineering from an accredited university, civil preferred but not required
  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering and land development
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and related programs
  • Knowledge related to roadway design, drainage design, water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems
  • Basic understanding of surveying work
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent teamwork skills

Seeking Water Resources Technician

Winkelmann & Associates, Inc., a civil engineering and land surveying consulting firm in Dallas, is seeking a water resources technician to join our Water Resources Team. This position will work directly with the firm’s Certified Floodplain Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Hydrologic analysis of flood frequency analysis, lag time calculations, rainfall-runoff modeling using HEC-HMS;
  • Hydraulic analysis of HEC-RAS backwater computations, culvert and pipe flow analysis, and hydraulic structures;
  • Utilizing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools to develop model input in AutoCAD;
  • Interpreting sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar material;
  • Preparing written reports to explain procedures and work results;
  • Collaborating with team members on project development;
  • Effectively communicating with local agencies;
  • Periodic site visits;
  • Representing company and clients at city meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field of engineering from an accredited university, civil preferred but not required
  • Knowledge/experience of Hydrologic and Hydraulics practices, modeling methods, and design
  • Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and computer models such as HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering & surveying work
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent teamwork skills

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Assisting the project manager in the preparation of design drawings and submittals for storm water systems, sanitary sewer systems, roadway design, water layouts, utility layouts, grading layouts, dirt quantities;
  • Researching infrastructure records;
  • Assisting project manager in site plan layouts for new developments;
  • Collaborating with team members on project development;
  • Attending project meetings and managing project progress;
  • Site visits to inspect construction;
  • Assisting in estimating costs for proposed projects;
  • Assisting project manager in floodplain analysis and drainage/storm water engineering;
  • Preparing project close-out documents;
  • Representing company and clients at city meetings

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field of engineering, civil preferred but not required, from an accredited university
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and related programs
  • Knowledge or coursework related to roadway design, drainage design, water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems
  • Basic understanding of surveying work
  • Internship experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent teamwork skills
